Effect on performance

In a UCLA psychology study, they provide evidence that being overweight causes people to be sedentary and tired. In this study, 32 female rats were placed on one of two diets for six months. The 16 female rats that were assigned highly processed, lower quality food gained a significant amount of weight. The data suggests that overweight individuals often get condemned as lacking control and lethargic. As the study mentioned, "Our data suggest that diet-induced obesity is a cause, rather than an effect, of laziness" (Wolpert, 2014).

Effect on Mental Health

Consuming fast food could have an impact on an individual's mental health and make them more susceptible to anxiety and depression (Huzar, 2021).

Among women, there was a significant association between mental distress and fast food (Begdache, L. & Patrissy, C.M., 2021)

In the cluster analysis, Western dietary pattern and fast food was associated with immoderate saturated fat intake. Altering exercise levels and metabolism, which led to mental distress (Atlantis et al., 2004).

Trouble with cutting fast food? Let's change that!

"A change in bad habits leads to a change in life" - Jenny Craig

6 Ways to Cut the Junk Food

  • Drink a great deal of water

    • It will help in minimizing cravings.

  • Have healthier and actual meals

    • Exchange the junk for a high protein meal like fish and beans.

  • Distract yourself from the cravings

    • Besides intaking water, take a walk or do chores around the house to keep your mind busy.

  • Get Sufficient Sleep

    • Sleep deprivation leads to vigorous cravings. Go to bed early, avoid electronics, avoid heavy meals two before bed, and avoid caffeine.

  • Control stress levels

    • Without realizing, you'll find yourself consuming ice cream and chips if you are frustrated or stressed. To fix that, meditate by focusing on your breathing.

  • Planning meals

    • Ahead of time, plan your meals. If you plan healthy meals for the upcoming week, the chances of you getting fast food are low.
